New Hwong Kok: Reviews & Ratings
As of July 1st 2025, New Hwong Kok is closed due to health code violations. I guess the health department didn't like the sweat from the chef either ,......... Good roast duck and roast pork. If you can, don't have them chop it up. Instead, bring it home and reheat at 425 degrees. Don't put it into a preheated oven. Start with the oven cold, and once the oven reaches 425, heat for another 5 minutes.
A Chinese roast pork/duck over rice and dim sum spot within a shopping center. Solid place to grab a quick bite to eat. It’s also generally affordable. $12.99 for #7. It was a bbq and crispy pork over rice with cabbage. Also ordered 4 orders of shumai and hargow, sorry spell check. All was very good and worth the price.
I got the combo pork and duck for takeout and it was solid. The cabbage was steamed instead of pickled but no complaints from me. I wanted to order just the roast duck but I came late in the day and they only had the pork//duck combo left. Don't come too late for their more popular dishes or else they might be out.
Good place for roast pork and char-siu! I go there to pick-up some BBQ items when I go Lion Market, which is next door! Prices are good. However, it does have a long line for items on the weekend.
When we want bbq ducks, we come here to get them, but they also have bbq duck wonton noodles that’s inexpensive and quite tasty. We think this has new owner because most of the old workers no longer there or at least we don’t see them. Before COVID we could sit down and have a very nice and inexpensive dinner with the family when we didn’t want to cook. The kids would order bbq duck with rice and I and my wife would order roasted duck noodles soups. My son loves the wonton noodles here since he doesn’t like roasted duck much. Everyone is happy when we sit down here. Now, there’s no dine in, only to go. Last week we decided to order to go, although we don’t believe in to go soups because by the time we got home it’s no longer hot. Anyhow, the BBQ duck and wonton were still tasty, the noodles cooked just right although the soup didn’t taste as good as before but still good. The price went up as everything else but still cheaper than a bowl of pho or any other soup bowls out there.
Exactly what you expect of a quick serve dim sum counter. Are the floors simultaneously sticky and slippery? Yes. But is the food delicious? Also yes. Ordering can be stressful, but know what you want in advance and it’ll be fine (you may have to ask for specifics as everything is not displayed up front or is still being made in the back).
Here's the review with the added information: "Great take out place for roasted duck and pork. My fav is duck roasted plate which came with rice and steamed cabbage. Loved the duck flavor. It's in the lions supermarket complex, just outside the supermarket. Not recommended for dining-in. It's a quick grab the food and take away."
Have been here multiple times. Love their roasted duck and soy sauce chicken. Food is always good and fresh, full of flavor. However the service was not good enough
